Long, flowing strokes

Swedish Massage in Slidell

Swedish massage uses long, flowing strokes and gentle kneading. It’s a good first appointment if you want a broad, relaxing massage and are still getting to know what kind of pressure feels right. Our Slidell studio offers four appointment lengths, from a 30-minute visit to a two-hour session.

What Swedish massage feels like

A Swedish massage has a steady rhythm. The therapist might begin with broad strokes across your back, then use smaller movements around the shoulders or other areas you’ve asked them to spend time on. A fuller session can move between your back, arms and legs at a pace you’re comfortable with.

Before you settle onto the table, tell your therapist what you want from the visit. “I’d like a gentle session with extra time around my shoulders” is a clear starting point. You can ask for more or less pressure, request that an area be skipped, or change your preferences once the massage is underway.

How long should you book?

Choose 30 minutes if you want to spend most of the session on one area, such as your back after a long drive. Sixty minutes is a useful starting point for a first full-body massage. Let the therapist know early if you’d like extra attention in one place so they can plan the time.

Consider 90 minutes if you want full-body work with time left for a couple of areas that feel especially tight. The menu also lists a 120-minute Swedish massage. If this is your first visit, call ahead to talk through what you’d like covered and choose a length that fits your preferences.

Make yourself comfortable on the table

Wear whatever’s easy to change out of and back into. For a draped table massage, you undress to your comfort level and stay covered except for the area your therapist is working on. If you’d rather stay fully clothed, ask the studio about the separate chair and table massage options.

The booking menu lists hot stones and essential oil with Swedish massage. Let your therapist know before you start if you’d prefer to skip the warmth or oil. You can also ask for a change in position if your neck or shoulders feel awkward while you’re on the table.

Frequently asked questions

Is Swedish massage a good choice for a first massage?

Yes. The flowing style gives you a chance to learn what pressure you like. Tell your therapist it’s your first massage so they can explain the setup and check in with you about comfort.

Can I ask for firm pressure during a Swedish massage?

Swedish massage is listed as light pressure. You can ask your therapist to adjust the pressure as you go. If you prefer a firmer session with time spent on a particular area, look at Deep Tissue Massage.

Can I book a 60-minute Swedish massage in Slidell?

Yes. The menu includes Swedish massage in 30-, 60-, 90- and 120-minute appointments. Use online booking to check openings at our Gause Boulevard studio.
